Exploring Iceland with Lagoon Car Rental.
At the start of April 2016, I had the pleasure of photographing the south coast of Iceland and discovering its vast landscapes and breath-taking views.
Just like for most people, Iceland had long been on my list of destinations to photograph, with its high density of visually stunning places to offer around every corner.
Capturing the atmospheric and otherworldly locations from my personal perspective has been an incredibly rewarding experience for me from a photographic point of view.
But besides all the incredible sights that Iceland has to offer, I found driving through its wild landscape to be one of the most enjoyable things of my trip.
One particular situation that I can remember very clear was a seemingly never-ending road somewhere in the Kalfafell area. Driving on this long stretch during sunset, with no cars or people around and nothing but a towering mountain on the horizon makes you doubt if you are still on Planet earth. Not to forget the black sand that is surrounding you in any direction as far as the eye can reach.
Another interesting aspect of Iceland is the ever changing weather which reminded me of a stronger version of the one in Scotland.
One moment I would watch the sunrise in still air, then behind the next corner and only a few minutes later it would suddenly start to rain and turn into a massive storm.
The unpredictability of these conditions motivated me to constantly chase the light, hoping to get better conditions behind the next mountain.
The Land Cruiser that Lagoon Car Rental provided us with was the ideal vehicle to discover Iceland and suitable for most terrains.
The absolute highlight was taking the Cruiser down to the coast for a drive on the black sand beaches - another unforgettable experience and something I cannot wait to repeat on my next visit to Iceland.
